Portland Lands 2024 NCAA Women’s Regional, 2026 Men’s First/Second Rounds

PORTLAND, OR (October 14, 2020) - Portland will play host to the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional and the 2026 Men’s Basketball 1st/2nd rounds, per official NCAA statement this morning. The bid process for these events have been driven collaboratively by Sport Oregon, Oregon State University, the Rose Quarter, and Travel Portland. All events will be played at Moda Center.

“We are extremely excited to host these premier NCAA basketball events again in our city,” said Sport Oregon CEO Jim Etzel. “We’re a top-tier basketball town, and we’re thrilled to showcase Portland again to the NCAA.”  

In 2019, this same bidding group collaborated to host one of the most successful Women’s Basketball Regionals in history, and were set to do the same in 2020 before the cancellation of the NCAA Tournament. Oregon State served as the host institution for both events, and the Beavers will again play host for both future awarded NCAA basketball events. 

“We are excited for the opportunity to bring the 2024 Women’s Regional and 2026 Men’s 1st/2nd Rounds to Portland,” said Scott Barnes, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for Oregon State University. “Our department has hosted a number of top-level NCAA Championship competitions over the last several years, and we look forward to working with our terrific partners at Sport Oregon, the Rose Quarter, and Travel Portland to continue putting on first-class events. We are eager to embrace another great chance to showcase our state and our university.”

The recent success of the Oregon State and University of Oregon women’s basketball programs - along with hugely successful NCAA men’s 1st/2nd rounds and the PK80 basketball tournament - has enhanced the support and awareness for collegiate basketball in the Portland community, and that regional energy will again be on display at Moda Center in March of 2024 and 2026.

Portland was also a finalist for either the 2025 or 2026 Women’s Final Four. Those events were awarded to Tampa in 2025 and Phoenix in 2026.
